Is it cold to surf during winter time?

-When its very cold (below -5 C) it can get chilly depending on your activity in the water. We are only using the best wetsuits in the world. When staying active you will have no problem keeping warm in the arctic. We are using TRUE wetsuits from California. Their goal is simple, to make the best wetsuit possible. Their suits are thoughtfully designed and constructed using premium materials to ensure your highest performance. We are also using 7-8 mm boots and 5 mm gloves.

When should a book my surftrip to Unstad?

Conditions for surfing are always changing and waves are not always easy to predict. Depending on your level of surfing we split the season in two. September to May is the season for bigger waves and June to August is the season for smaller waves. If you like surfing and ski/snowboarding January to Aprils is the time to go. If you want to combine nice surfing with walking in the mountain under the midnight sun, May - July is the time to travel. No matter on your surf level you will find plenty of fun things to do if the waves are flatt.

It is best to have clothes and shoes for sun, rain and wind, as weather conditions are always and often quite quickly can change in Lofoten.

What is the public transportation system like?

Unstad and overall the Lofoten Islands is not well connected with public transport, so a car will help you to get around the area for a bit of sightseeing, and to get to the nearest shop in Borg or Leknes. Check www.177nordland.no for local information.
